Guest, Gerald Celente, a trends expert, reports The Panic of 2008, will go into the Collapse of 2009.

We are a global economy now. The highly touted "BRIC" companies (Brazil, Russia, India, China) and emerging markets all around the world are crashing, with no end in sight.

The architects of the destruction of the Glass-Steagall Act, Robert Rubin, etc., are the same bunch who are trying now to revive the economy.

Everyone is doing the Bernanke Two-Step. Nobody knows what is going on, and the only thing they know to do is to print money and lower interest rates. The whole world knows what is going on, and all are in trouble.

The United States is in the worst trouble. It is bankrupt. The government has a debt of something like $12 trillion, and consumers owe something like $14 trillion.

We will have a dismal Christmas season. After this Christmas holiday, the real decline will happen. Major bankruptcies will start among the retailers. Many retailers already have closed numbers of stores in an attempt to pull in and avoid bankruptcy. Who will move into all these empty stores? People will be depressed when they go to work, looking at all the empty stores and offices surrounding their places of employment. Thus, another trend is a commercial real estate collapse that will be even bigger than the housing real estate collapse.

Real unemployment is around 12.7%, rather than the 6.7% claimed by the government. These are depression levels.

Following the collapse and the new Great Depression, we will see a revolution. There will be a huge amount of pent-up anger among the youth, who have a futureless future. When people lose everything, they have nothing to lose. These are the beginning phases we are in now.

Back in 1992, John Connally told him that if people knew what was going on in this country, we would have a revolution in this country.

Another trend is the "Little People Squeeze." In New York, they are putting more taxes on sodas. In most towns and cities, property taxes have gone up with higher house valuations, but when the house valuations came down, the property taxes didn't. There will be lots more "little" hidden taxes on the little people to make up for government deficits.

In February, we will recognize and feel the effects of the collapse.

By spring (March, April, May) we will begin to see the unrest. It may be worker unrest, or it may be student unrest. We do not know where the "first shot" will come from.

They (Bernanke, Rubin, Paulsen, et. al.) are trying to stall this collapse as long as they can, hence, the auto company bailouts.

This will be worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s. Then, we were in an ascending class. Now, we are a declining class society.

Because of our growing underclass, with high school failures of some 50%, we have a spoiled, rich generation now, which will not know what to do in a major depression. In the 1930s, people had dignity and knew how to live with little. Now, there will likely be a lot of dead bodies, because this generation does NOT know what to do.

This may be a peaceful revolution, or it may be a violent revolution.

What will this revolution become? It could become a succession movement, where California seceeds, or the East Coast secceeds, or the South.
